Factorio: Are better belts worth it?

So, a few days later, I come out with this -
Are better belts worth it?

Firstly, Here is a little diagram of belts/belts - 

The top one represents Yellow/Red, (2Y = 1R),
and the bottom one Yellow/Red/Blue (3Y = 1.5R = 1B)

Each yellow belt can transport items at 13.33 items/s, red 26.67 items/s, and blue 40 items/s.

The crafting recipes are coming in! One yellow belt requires 1x gear and 1x Plate, 
A total of 3x iron plates.

Red belts are as followed:

With a total of 13 iron plates, and Blue belts: (oops! The amount of plates in 5 gears is 10)

The barrels are representing lubricant. This requires 23 iron and 10 lubricant.

If what I have stated is correct (Disclaimer - It might not be), the price of two yellow belts = 6 plates
and 3 = 9 plates for a blue belt. If this were the case, we would be too lucky. In real life, to make a faster version of something you would get the same thing and add more. So this realism aspect is met. the red belts need 5 more gears to create, which is reasonable, but the blue belts requiring 10 more gears + 10 lubricant? It's a bit overpriced for me.

However, there are loads of places where this extra boost of speed might be needed, ao go ahead and use it! I'm just saying...
